Child kidnap plot charges dropped
Scales of justice
Charges against two men of conspiring to kidnap a child have been dropped.

A Public Prosecution Service lawyer told North Antrim Magistrates Court the charge was not being proceeded with.

Henry Termonia, 58, of Castle Park, near Dervock, and Lee Joseph Wright, 24, of Upper Captain Street, Coleraine, were each originally charged in July.

A defence lawyer told the court: "I can only hope the press report this with the same breathless, fearless accuracy that they reported the initial charge."

In July, prosecution lawyers told a High Court bail hearing that the men had been arrested in Portstewart after a surveillance operation.

They said the men were found in a car with syringes, tranquilisers, toys and sweets.

However, the defence told the court there was an explanation for each item in the car.
