Up to 30,000 people thronged the Belfast's city centre for midnight celebrations followed by firework display on the banks of the river Lagan.

Tens of thousands of people gathered at Belfast's city hall for an open air concert by local singer Brian Kennedy followed by the countdown to midnight.
