Police car
A 17-year-old youth has been shot in the back in north Belfast, the police have said.

He was walking along Ardoyne Avenue with some friends at about 0030 BST when a man appeared from a nearby alley and fired a shotgun at them.

The youth - who was hit in the arms, leg and back - was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Two other youths were hit with pellets, but did not require hospital treatment.

Police have said they are investigating a possible motive for the attack and have appealed for information.
