The pipe bomb was discovered in south Belfast
A 23-year-old man has been charged with possessing explosives with intent to endanger life.

Jackie Johnston, with an address at a south Belfast hostel, was also charged at the city's magistrates court with possessing ammunition with intent.

The charges are in connection with a pipe-bomb device and ammunition found in an alleyway in the Knockbreda Park area of the city on Friday.

He was remanded in custody and will appear again by videolink next month.
