Bombardier 'committed to plane'

Aerospace company Bombardier remains committed to developing a new aircraft range which could create almost 2,000 jobs in Belfast, the firm has said.

Speaking at the Farnborough Air Show, company executives said they believed in time there would be a market for the C-Series.

The aircraft holds between 110 and 130 seats.

Earlier in the year, Bombardier announced it was postponing the launch of the plane.

It said it had not received sufficient backing from airlines.

In January, it said it would keep a small team working on the C-Series, but it could not justify going ahead with the aircraft in current market conditions.

It said it was diverting resources into the 80 to 100 seat regional jet and turbo-prop aeroplane market.
