Baseball bat gang assault women
Three women in their 20s have been injured after a gang of robbers broke into a house in Cloughey, County Down.

Five masked men, armed with baseball bats, forced their way into the house in the Cloughey Road area at about 2330 BST on Saturday.

They smashed glass and furniture before assaulting the women who were asleep upstairs. The women sustained cuts, bruises and minor head injuries.

Cash and documents were taken. A motive for the attack is under investigation.

It is understood two of the females are still in hospital.

The police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
