Cricket tourists chased by youths
Members of an Indian cricket team have been left badly shaken after being chased from Belfast city centre on Sunday night.

The cricketers are in Northern Ireland as part of an under-19 tour.

It is understood five of them were chased from the city centre towards the Albertbridge Road in east Belfast by a group of up to 15 youths.

No-one was injured in the incident. East Belfast DUP councillor Robin Newton called the attack disgraceful.

"It is disgraceful that gifted young sportsmen cannot wander around admiring the capital without local thugs attempting to do them harm," he said.

"Those who carry out such hate fuelled attacks have nothing to offer except continual intolerance and hostility."

Police have also condemned the incident.

They called on the local community to show their support for the young cricketers.
