Police have recovered two rifles - one of which was fitted with a telescopic sight - in County Tyrone.
The guns were recovered in the Brackaville Road area of Coalisland as police were investigating a report of suspicious activity on Thursday.
The weapons have been taken away for scientific examination. No arrests have been made.
Police said the community in Coalisland was much safer as a result of the guns being recovered.
Acting Chief Inspector Alwyn Barton said: "In the wrong hands these lethal weapons have the ability to cause grievous injury or take life.
"Due to positive police work resulting from an inquiry into suspicious activity these guns have been taken out of circulation.
"This must be welcomed by everyone."
