More than 200 jobs are to be created by a 10m expansion of a human resources agency's Belfast facility.

Reed Managed Services currently employs 62 people in the city, the expansion will see that rise to 220.

It will provide human resources, shared services and technical support to the UK and Ireland from Belfast.

Finance director Derek Beal said they wanted to "grow into a market-leading HR consultancy & outsourced services business".

"This expansion will help us to increase market share and expand our client portfolio," he said.

The investment is being backed by 1.9m in assistance from Invest Northern Ireland.

Reed Managed Services, which encompasses Reed Consulting - the HR consultancy and recruitment process outsourcing division - is part of the Reed family of companies, a leading UK HR services group.

They currently employ 2,500 people across the UK.

Invest NI's Chief Executive, Leslie Morrison, said the project would contribute 5m in salaries to the Northern Ireland economy.

"This was a mobile investment which could have gone to the Republic of Ireland," he said.

"They chose to expand their Belfast operation because of the strength of the labour market here, the availability of relevant skills and the support being offered by INI."

A comprehensive training programme supported by Invest NI will give employees the opportunity to acquire professional human resources qualifications.
