Bright idea 'sticks it' to dog dirt
The cartridge is deposited in the bin

A Northern Ireland firm has come up with an idea which could prove invaluable for dog lovers and dog haters.

The unenviable task of cleaning up dog dirt has been made a little easier with a newly-designed "poop scooper".

It is the brainchild of Favour Pet Foods in Randalstown, County Antrim.

The firm has invented a "poop stick" which uses a cartridge at the end to collect dog dirt.

The company's Brian Sterling said after the dirt was collected in the cartridge, a cap was put on the end of the stick and then the cartridge was put into a bin.

"Once you get to the bin, it is very easy to dispose of the cartridge," he said.

"We find that people are put off by the idea of having to pick up the pooh.

"Also, if a dog comes into your garden and fouls there, then this is the ideal product, because you don't have to touch it, but at the same time you can lift it and put it away."
