Man dies on train-line
The police are investigating the death of a man on a railway line near Lisburn in County Antrim.

The man died after he was struck by the Belfast bound Enterprise train from Dublin as it approached Knockmore halt at about 1730 BST.


Man killed in car crash

A County Armagh man has been killed in a road crash near his home on Tuesday morning.

Martin Toner, 37, from Friary Road in Cladymore near Markethill was killed in an accident in which his Toyota Corolla car and a Renault Megane were in collision on the Markethill to Hamiltonsbawn road shortly after 0900 BST.

A man and woman who were travelling in the Renault Megane were taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.


Bomb-making equipment seized

Police have found two pipe bombs and other bomb making equipment during a searches in east Belfast.

The items were discovered in a derelict house in Grove Street, off the Beersbridge Road.

Army bomb experts were called to the scene and the area was cordoned off while an examination was carried out. Both devices and the other items have been taken away for examination by forensic experts.


Vandals blamed for fires

The police believe vandals were responsible for two late night fires - one in Downpatrick and the other in County Antrim.

In Downpatrick, a petrol station at Church Street was severely damaged by a fire just before midnight on Sunday.

It is thought a bin was set alight at the rear of the premises.

Meanwhile, the police are treating as malicious a fire at 2300 BST at the Council owned bump on the Carrowreagh Road in Armoy.

A bulldozer and tractor and trailer were badly damaged. The scenes of both fires will be examined again later on Monday morning.
