Two members of a west Belfast family have denied the murder of father-of-six Gerard Devlin in Ballymurphy.

Francisco Notarantonio, 18, from Whitecliff Parade, was accused of murder, affray and attempted murder.

His cousin, Paul Burns, 23, from Dermothill Park, was accused of murder and affray. Both men have been remanded in custody.

Two other Notorantonios appeared in court earlier this week charged over the killing.

Belfast Magistrates' Court was told on Thursday that, when charged, Francisco Notarantonio said he was sorry to hear that Gerard Devlin was dead.

The death of Mr Devlin sparked trouble in west Belfast.

A solicitor for the accused said the two men would not be applying for bail until the violence had died down.

He also read a statement in court on behalf of the Notarantonio family, which accused two groups, the Community Restorative Justice and Community Safety Network, of orchestrating the violence.
