Police are treating a fire at a block of flats in County Armagh as arson.

The fire at the Moyraverty Building in Brownlow, Lurgan, was discovered at about 1900 GMT on Saturday.

Lloyd Crawford from the Fire and Rescue Service said that an unwanted sofa had been ignited in a hallway accessed by 10 flats, trapping six people.

"Fire and Rescue Service personnel entered, put out the fire and led five people to safety, while one person was able to leave by himself," he said.

Residents have been provided with alternative accommodation.

It is understood the flats had just been refurbished after a fire last year.
