A man is in hospital after an armed robbery at his home in north Belfast.
A number of masked men armed with a gun, a knife and a baton broke into the house at Greymount Parade shortly before midnight.
The 50-year-old man was struck on the head and repeatedly assaulted along with his two sons - one of whom is 15 - while demands were made for money.
His house was ransacked by the intruders before they ran off with jewellery and cash.
They also tried to steal the family's car, but are believed to have escaped on foot instead after seeing a police patrol.
None of the victims' injuries is life-threatening.
The SDLP's Pat Convery described the attack as "callous and brutal".
"It is shocking that anyone can be so brutal and violent in order to steal money," he said.
"Those responsible came with weapons and were intent on causing serious harm and injury."
Police have appealed for anyone with any information about the incident to contact them.
