The SDLP are to raise the issue of flags appearing in mixed areas of south Belfast at the next meeting of the Policing Board.
Union Flags were put up along the Lisburn Road on Tuesday. Several were also erected outside a police station.
The SDLP's Alex Attwood said the party had "received countless complaints" about flags in that part of the city.
"The police must not be slow in acting to keep main roads and other central locations neutral," he said.
The Policing Board is due to meet this Thursday.
