A man had died following a road accident in County Down.

He was killed when his car was in collision with a lorry waiting to cross the central reservation of the A1 road, close to Dromore, at about 0700 GMT.

The man, whose name is yet to be released by police, was taken to hospital by ambulance but later died.

The road was closed for a time while the scene was cleared and police carried out an investigation into the cause of the collision.
