Petrol bombs and stones have been thrown at police officers and soldiers during a security alert in Belfast.
Army technical officers were called to examine a suspicious object on the Falls Road in west Belfast at about 1830 GMT on Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman said a crowd gathered and petrol bombs and bottles were thrown. No-one was injured.
However, minor damage was caused to a number of vehicles. The suspicious object was later declared a hoax.
