Motorist dies in school bus crash
Scene of accident
The accident happened on a bend in the road
A man has died after his car and a school bus collided in County Armagh.

The victim was Jason Davidson Murray, 26, from Shandon Park, Newry. The crash happened at Tandragee Road, on the outskirts of Newry, at about 0830 BST.

The bus driver and seven children on their way to St Colman's College grammar school in Newry were treated for minor injuries following the crash.

The Fire and Rescue Service said the bus driver did well to ensure the pupils' injuries were not more serious.

"The accident itself was very serious... but in some respects, the schoolchildren had a narrow miss," the service's Michael McAteer said.

"A lot of things could have happened but didn't."

He added: "All praise to the bus driver who kept the bus under control."

It is understood Mr Murray was originally from Cookstown.

The road was closed following the collision, and police, ambulance and fire crews attended the scene of the accident.
