New paper folds after one month
Newspapers
A cross-community newspaper covering lifestyle issues in Belfast has ceased publication after just a month.

The Daily View, produced by News Letter publisher Local Press Ltd, is closing immediately with the loss of 17 jobs.

Its publisher said in a statement that circulation had not lived up to their expectations since it began on 4 April.

The Daily View was the second new title this year after the February launch of Daily Ireland, which has also struggled and is shedding up to 12 jobs.

In March, the Belfast Telegraph launched a morning tabloid edition while the Irish News also relaunched in a smaller "compact" format.

At the time of the Daily View's launch, its editor, Greg Harkin, said it would offer a real alternative.
