Man is remanded over rail crash

About 30 people escaped injury in the crash
A 21-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with an incident in County Antrim when a train hit a car.

Patrick McLaughlin from Carninreagh Road, Claudy, is charged with attempted murder. He made no reply when charged and was remanded in custody.

The charge is connected to an incident on Monday when a train collided with a car which was on the track at Dunloy.

A woman who was arrested has been released pending a report to the DPP. A second man was released without charge.

None of the 32 people on board the Belfast to Coleraine train was injured. The train was not derailed.
