Police have appealed for information about two cars used in a £1.2m robbery.

A man and woman were taken hostage by four masked gunmen in their flat in the Belvoir area of Belfast on Tuesday.

Between 0400 and 0530 BST the woman was taken in a blue four door car to the Annadale area, while her partner went to work at the Brinks security firm.

He and a colleague drove to Creighton's garage on Lisburn Road and handed £1.2m to two men, thought to be driving a two door blue Renault Megane parked nearby.

The woman was released unharmed at about 0900 BST.

Detectives said a blue Megane was found burnt out on Old Glencairn Road in north Belfast at about 2100 BST on Tuesday.

They have appealed for anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact them.
