Elderly woman robbed in church
A woman in her 80s is recovering after being mugged in a church in Portadown, police have revealed.

She was praying with her husband in St John the Baptist Church on the Garvaghy Road on Sunday when a man burst in and snatched her bag.

The parish priest, Father Michael O'Dwyer, said the couple were "badly shocked".

"She is quite distressed, the lady, as you can imagine. Her husband was too," he said.

"They are a very good couple, very God-fearing and doing what they do most Sundays, out for a run in the car on a Sunday afternoon and calling into the church in their normal routine of things."
