Murder inquiry after victim dies
The scene of the attack
Mr Nelson was attacked at a disco in County Antrim
Police have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a man who was seriously assaulted at a County Antrim night club last year.

Stephen Nelson died in hospital on Friday after being attacked at the Chimney Corner Hotel on the Antrim Road in Newtownabbey on 19 September 2004.

Mr Nelson, who was in his 50s at the time of the assault, had worked at the hotel as a doorman for several years.

A gang of up to 10 men kicked and punched Mr Nelson during the attack.

Police, who at the time described the attack as "brutal and horrendous", have said a motive for the murder has not been established.

Five men arrested and questioned about the assault at the time were released without charge.

Although it is on the hotel premises, the over-25s disco is operated by an independent franchise.
