A 46-year-old west Belfast man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of his estranged wife.
Desmond McAteer of Norglen Parade replied "no" when the charge was put to him when he appeared in court on Wednesday.
His estranged wife Philomena remains critically ill in hospital after she was stabbed in the chest at her home also in Norglen Parade on Sunday.
He was remanded in custody until next month.
