A man has been released on bail at Belfast Magistrates Court on charges relating to an incident that left a 14-year-old girl critically ill.

The girl was hit by a white van near the Hunting Lodge bar on Stewartstown Road at about 2030 BST on Friday.

David Lynch, 24, is accused of dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The resident magistrate agreed not to make Mr Lynch's address public at the behest of his solicitor.

His solicitor advised the court that a bail address would be given to the police.

During the hearing, an investigating officer said he could connect the accused with the charges and told the court he was objecting to bail.

However, Mr Lynch was released on bail of £300 and ordered not to consume alcohol.

Another girl was also injured in the incident, but not seriously.
