Woman in gang sex assault ordeal

A woman found lying unconscious near Belfast city centre had been seriously sexually assaulted by up to three men, police have said.

The 28-year-old was found in Nelson Street just after 0200 BST on Saturday. Police believe she was attacked in a Cathedral Quarter side street after leaving a nightclub at Dunbar Link.

At this stage, police are not linking this attack with an indecent assault on a 21-year-old woman near Queen's University library at about 0600 BST.

Her attacker ran off in the direction of nearby Camden Street after two people were alerted by the woman's screams.
