An overnight fire at a derelict shop on Shankill Road in west Belfast has been brought under control by firefighters.

The blaze, in a building facing Tennent Street Police Station, was discovered just before 0430 BST on Saturday.

Part of the building collapsed as firefighters tackled the blaze. Assistant Divisional Officer David Patton said a car was found inside.

"We were able to see inside the car and could see no signs of any persons," he said.

The Shankill Road was closed for a time between Lawnbrooke Avenue and Mountjoy Street
