Campaigners oppose asbestos store
Residents of a County Antrim town opposing plans for an asbestos storage facility near the town are to hold a protest on Saturday.

The government has said the plant near Crumlin will pose no risk to health, and gave plans for it the green light last month.

However, at a meeting in the town on Thursday residents pledged to continue their opposition.

They want the government to reverse its decision on the facility.

The proposal will see double bagged asbestos being transported by the firm Eastwood Ltd from its removal site to Crosshill, where it will be stored in steel containers awaiting movement for final disposal.

More than 200 people attended the Crumlin Against Asbestos Group meeting.

The group says Saturday's protest will be the first of a number to show that locals would not accept the decision.
