Two men have appeared at Newtownards Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder over a gun attack on a taxi driver in County Down last week.

The victim was wounded as he sat in his car at Stirling Avenue in Newtownards early on Saturday 20 August.
Luke Hawkins, 19, of Balfour Street and Michael James Massey, 19, of Abbot Gardens, both of Newtownards, were remanded in custody.
Mr Hawkins replied not guilty when charged while Mr Massey made no reply.
A detective inspector from the organised crime squad confirmed both had denied involvement in the shooting throughout a total of 16 police interviews.
