Pensioners are being targeted in their homes
The police have issued a warning about bogus callers in County Tyrone after a number of attempted robberies at pensioners' homes.

It seems at least one criminal gang is targeting pensioners in the county.

Bogus callers, purporting to be from a number of agencies including the charity, Age Concern, visited a number of people in Omagh on Wednesday.

The home of a woman in her 80s was ransacked during one visit.

The pensioner, who lives at Kevlin Road in Omagh, was visited by a woman claiming to be from Age Concern.

Money stolen

When she left, the elderly householder found that rooms upstairs had been ransacked.

Police believe the bogus caller had two men with her.

Meanwhile, a man called at homes in Cannon Hill Drive, claiming to be carrying out a survey. He asked for bank details.

A man and a woman claiming to be from emergency water and Age Concern were turned away from pensioners homes at Crevenagh Road and Johnston Park.

Across the county, a 70-year-old woman was robbed at her home.

A man claiming to be from the Water Board called at the pensioner's house in the Churchhill Cottages area of Caledon, near Dungannon.

While they were in the kitchen, a man and a woman ransacked two rooms and a large amount of money was taken. They left in a white car.
