Girl killed in motorway accident

A 15-year-old girl has died following a road accident in County Antrim, police have said.

The teenager died after being hit by an articulated lorry while trying to cross four lanes of traffic on the M22 at Moneynick near Toomebridge.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident, which happened at about 1700 BST, to contact them.

The accident brings to 59 the number of people killed on Northern Ireland's roads so far this year.
