Fisherman search suspended
Police are coordinating a major search of the lough
The search for a fisherman missing on a lough in County Fermanagh has been suspended for a second consecutive night.

Earlier on Tuesday, an underwater rescue team joined the search for the angler.

The father-of-three, who is in his 50s, had been seen fishing from a small dinghy on Upper Lough Erne.

The dinghy was later spotted empty and drifting at about 1515 GMT on Monday.

Lifeboats spent Monday evening searching an area around Bellanaleck.

The fisherman's dinghy was found drifting near Cleenish Island. His rod and other belongings were on board.

'Concentrated area'

Police have been co-ordinating a major search operation, which resumed at first light on Tuesday. It will resume again at first light on Wednesday.

Several craft, including two lifeboats, have been looking for the man.

A helicopter from Sligo is also being used to examine the area.

Coastguard station officer for the Erne area, Robert Livingstone, said: "This is quite a big search in a concentrated area.

"We are fairly certain that we know within half a mile either way where we are looking."

Mr Livingstone said that as time passed the chances of finding the man alive decreased, but he was still "searching in hope".
