Art students' work on show
Final year art students from the University of Ulster are opening a week long exhibition of their work in Belfast.

Items in the exhibition, being held in the Art College in the city's Royal Avenue, will go on sale on Monday.

One of the organisers Mary Booth, said they had toyed with the idea of letting art mogul Charles Saatchi know so he could replace some of the work recently lost in a fire in an east London warehouse.

"After hearing about what happened to the Saatchi collection we have thought of giving him a ring," she said.

Belfast businesses are being offered a two hour preview to purchase any work for their premises before the general public will be admitted.

Painting Lecturer Mark Ainsworth said in putting together a catalogue of their work the students had shown a great deal of enterprise and determination.

"It has been a pleasure for the University of Ulster staff to work with this group of students.

"In the end it is perhaps time that the students have the last word and let the work speak for itself," he said.

All monies raised from the exhibition goes to the students.
