Officer hurt in checkpoint collision
A police officer is in a serious condition in hospital after being knocked down at a routine check point in south Armagh.

The incident happened at 0030 BST on Sunday on the Blayney Road in Crossmaglen.

The community officer, who is in his 40s, was hit by a white car which had number plates from the Republic of Ireland.

He received head injuries and is in intensive care in Craigavon Area Hospital.

The car did not stop and it is believed it crossed the border.

Police believe damage was caused to the vehicle and have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
