Roads claim three lives

Three people have died as the result of road accidents in Northern Ireland.

A County Down teenager who was killed after he was knocked off his bike was Michael Robson, 14, of Longstone Crescent in Dundonald.

He was fatally injured in the accident on Friday night on the Comber Road in Dundonald.

He died from his injuries in the Royal Victoria hospital in Belfast on Monday.

Meanwhile, police have released the name of a motorcyclist who died in hospital after a crash in County Antrim.

Stephen Spence, 23, from Farmhill in Ballycreaghy, died after his motorcycle was in collision with a car on Fountain Hill in Antrim.

In County Tyrone, an elderly woman was killed in a road accident after the car she was travelling in was in collision with another vehicle.

It happened on the Carland Road in Dungannon at about 1700 BST on Monday.

The woman, who was in her eighties, was a passenger in a car driven by her brother, who is in his seventies.

Although her injuries were thought to be minor, she later died.

The police have not yet established how the accident happened.

Two other people were taken to hospital following the crash, with injuries not thought to be life threatening.

It is understood the dead woman's family is from Cookstown.

The driver of the other car is in her early seventies and from Dungannon.
