A 16-year-old boy is due in court charged with the murder of a teenager near Belfast.

He is due to appear at Craigavon Magistrates' Court on Saturday in connection with the murder of Megan McAlorum.

Megan's body was found on a desolate stretch of land, in an area of forest, half a mile from the Glenside Road, Dunmurry, near Belfast, on Monday.

The 16-year-old had suffered head injuries.

Police were granted a 24-hour extension to continue questioning a second man on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, a third person was arrested in Ballymena on Friday.

The woman is being questioned about assisting offenders.

Police thanked the people of west Belfast and the travelling community for their assistance in the investigation, and repeated a call for the continued assistance of local people.

The teenager, from Glencolin Way near the Lenadoon Estate on the outskirts of west Belfast, was one of seven children.
