The death of a conductor who fell from a train in County Londonderry is being investigated by the Northern Ireland Health and Safety Executive.

Nigel Shiels, 36, from Coleraine, was working on the 1125 BST service from Londonderry on Saturday.

His body was found by police beside the railway line in Eglinton, close to the City of Derry airport.

Northern Ireland Railways confirmed that a full investigation was under way.

After the incident, train services between Derry and Coleraine were cancelled.

A statement issued by Translink, the company that operates Northern Ireland Railways, expressed sympathy to Mr Shiels' family and friends.
