The Ulster Unionist Party has begun to reform its youth wing which was dissolved last month.
Young people met senior party figures including David Trimble
At a reception in Stormont on Friday evening, young people including a number of new recruits, mingled with senior party figures including MPs and MLAs.
An official meeting of the Young Unionists is due to be convened once official recognition is given at the party's annual meeting next month.
Party leader David Trimble said the UUP could now look forward to a bright future.
"For many people in the Ulster Unionist Party, recent events have had a liberating effect," he said.
"There is a freshness, vigour and enthusiasm in the party that we haven't seen for some time.
"There is a sense that we have finally put certain things behind us and that we can focus on the future and on presenting the unionist people here with a real future to look forward to."
