Reconstruction for missing woman
Missing woman
Attracta Harron was last seen walking to Mass
Police on both sides of the Irish border have renewed their appeal for information after staging a reconstruction of the last known movements of a missing County Tyrone woman.

Attracta Harron, 65, was last seen at 0930 GMT on 11 December when she went to Mass at Murlough Chapel in Lifford, in County Donegal.

Police in Strabane in conjunction with the Garda Siochana carried out a reconstruction of events on Thursday - one week since she was last seen.

At 1030 GMT a woman resembling Mrs Harron walked from Moorlough chapel in Lifford, across the bridge, to the roundabout on the Strabane side of the Mourne River.

It was hoped this reconstruction would jog the memory of anyone who saw Mrs Harron prior to her disappearance.

Following the reconstruction, further information was been received by the enquiry team.

At 1120 GMT on Thursday 11 December, a man in an old style red or maroon hatchback Vauxhall Cavalier with a Republic of Ireland registration was seen in the Greenbrae area of Strabane close to the bridge.

He was talking to a woman who matched the description of Mrs Harron.

He was aged about 40 and had an Irish accent.

Police have appealed for this man to contact them so that he can be eliminated from the enquiry.

During the reconstruction, the PSNI and the Garda Siochana questioned motorists and pedestrians on their respective sides of the border.

'Uncharacteristic'

At the time of her disappearance, Mrs Harron was wearing a red duffle-style coat and grey trousers. She is described as being 5ft 2ins, with shoulder length blonde hair.

On Monday, underwater teams resumed a search of waterways in the Strabane and Lifford areas and nearby countryside was also searched.

Detective Inspector John Gilmore said there was nothing to indicate a crime had been committed.

The retired librarian's family said the disappearance was completely uncharacteristic and they were extremely worried.

They said their mother was fit and healthy. Mrs Harron's five children returned to Strabane to search along with her husband Micheal.

Donegal Rescue is helping in the search and friends are also organising a search. They have asked people to search outhouses and barns.

Members of the Foyle and Strabane search and rescue teams have carried out a search assisted by the PSNI underwater search team and the Garda underwater search team.

The Garda air support unit has also been flying over the area.
