Police are investigating reports that a car carrying Sinn Fein MP Martin McGuinness was attacked by a mob outside council offices in County Antrim.
Mr McGuinness said his car was attacked with stones and bottles
Mr McGuinness said the crowd included loyalists who threw stones and bottles at the car outside Ballymoney Council's offices at about 1600 BST on Tuesday.
Mr McGuinness was with his party colleague Councillor Philip McGuigan in the car at the time.
They say a crowd of about 12 people began to attack the car, kicking and punching it as well as throwing stones and bottles.
Mr McGuinness said the crowd tried to gain entry to the car.
"Some of them tried to break the windows of the car with their fists, and it was quite a dangerous situation," he said.
"I think if they had gained access into the car, it could have been quite a nasty situation."
A second car was involved in a collision with a bus at about the same time.
Police say the incidents may be connected, and have appealed for anyone with information to contact detectives at Ballymoney.
