Man denies attempted murder
A Londonderry man has been remanded in custody charged with attempting to murder two police officers in the city at the weekend.

Patrick James Smyth, 38, from Bracken Park in Galliagh, appeared before Londonderry Magistrates Court on Monday.

The charges relate to an incident at the weekend when a police officer man was hit by a car in the Coshquin area, near the Benview estate on Saturday.

Mr Smyth denies the charge.

One of the police officers suffered head injuries in the incident.

He was later discharged from hospital.
