A house has been attacked with two petrol bombs in north Belfast.

No-one was injured in the attack.

The petrol bombs were thrown at a Catholic family's house in Oldpark Avenue just before 0100 GMT on Tuesday.

A house next door was slightly damaged when one of the devices struck a window.

Police said they believed two men were involved in the attack.

They escaped in a car along Cliftonville Avenue.

Police said a window was shattered and a motorcycle parked outside was damaged by fire.

The police service said it was investigating possible motives.

North Belfast SDLP councillor Patrick Convery condemned the attack.

"It is a miracle that no-one was killed or injured in this petrol bomb attack," he said.

"Regardless of the motivation or reasoning behind the attack, it is completely unacceptable that people cannot feel safe in their own homes."
