A County Londonderry man has appeared in court charged with murder.

Ian George Hanson of Alderbrook Gardens is accused of murdering John Henry McCormick, in Coleraine in 2001.

Mr Hanson is alleged to have killed the Catholic man at a house in Loughanhill Park in the Ballysally estate on 23 June 2001.

A detective inspector told Ballymena Magistrates Court that when charged the defendant replied "definitely not guilty".

The defendant was remanded in custody to appear by video link at Coleraine Magistrates Court on 10 March.
