Catholic home north Belfast, scene of petrol bomb attack
The device was thrown into the backyard of the house
A family, including a five month old baby, has escaped injury after their north Belfast home was attacked with a petrol bomb.

Stones, golf balls and petrol bombs were thrown at houses in the nationalist Ardoyne area on Thursday.

One petrol bomb landed in the back yard of the Catholic family's house in Alliance Avenue.

There has been trouble in interface areas in the north of the city over several months.

The child's mother, who did not want to be identified, said the attacks were happening every night.

"There was a nail bomb thrown on Sunday and there has been a pipe bomb next door and two pipe bombs up the street," she said.

"This is ongoing this past two to three weeks.

"Every night there is something, fireworks and stones and bricks, everything is being hurled over.

"They are actually shouting over that we are going to be burned out before the weekend is out."

On Wednesday, about 150 people were involved in the trouble when loyalists and nationalists clashed on the Ardoyne Road at the junction of Alliance Avenue.

Police investigated reports of shots being fired and a number of houses were attacked with paint in the Oldpark area during the trouble.
