Man and child injured in shooting
A man and a teenager have been injured in a shooting incident in Newry, County Down.

The attack happened at about 1930 BST on Monday at Barcroft Park when four shots from a shotgun were fired from a car.

The 30-year-old man and 14-year-old boy were taken to Daisy Hill Hospital in the town, where they were treated for pellet wounds.

The door of a house was damaged in the attack.

Newry Sinn Fein councillor Davy Hyland said the incident had frightened people in the area.

Mr Hyland said there was a lot of children playing in the street at the time.

He said he did not believe paramilitaries were involved in the attack.

Police are trying to establish a motive for the attack.
