Plans made to return climber's body
The expedition was in the Himalayas

Arrangements are being made to recover the body of a Northern Ireland climber who died while on an expedition in the Himalayas.

Adam Joseph Cinnamond, 34, was on a seven week expedition to the Himalayas.

Mr Cinnamond, from Banbridge in County Down, was one of four climbers from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland who had travelled to northern Nepal to scale Mount Cho-Oyu.

It is understood he went missing six days ago as he returned down the mountain.

His family first learned of his disappearance on Thursday and a day later they were informed that his body had been discovered in a crevasse by one of his climbing partners.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Edel Armstrong said climbing was Adam's life.

"He had 14 years experience of climbing and it was actually something he introduced to myself.

"Adam lived life to the full and really was an inspiration," she said.

"I have to admire that he did what he wanted and he knew the risks were there but he wasn't the type to sit back and let life pass him by."

His family hope the body can be recovered and taken to Katmandu from where arrangements would be made to fly it back to Northern Ireland.
