Billboards from around the country

A selection of your billboards

In our project to build up a picture of a week in local news from billboards, another selection of the best.

"DOG SEES OFF AXEMAN"

Taken by david99b on 28 April.

Elmo is a very brave Jack Russell, so much so that when an intruder with an axe smashed his way through the back door, the plucky pooch yapped until the burglar gave up and fled.

"EAST DULWICH: SWARM OF BEES TERRIFY SHOPPERS"

Taken by Brixhamleper on 23 April.

This headline may relate to this story about a woman discovering an extraordinary swarm attached to a park bench. Her nephew wanted to poke the swarm with a stick, but thankfully didn't.

"STRANDED FIFE CAT RESCUED"

Taken by Catherine Kerr-Dineen on 28 April.

Sammy the cat was at the centre of an eye-watering drama at the top of a tree in Limekilns, Fife. He is thought to have been up there as long as nine days before being rescued. Cue references to potential "catastrophe" and "purrfect" endings.

"RUNAWAY VAN KILLS SON"

Taken by Builder-bob at Wardle Service Station, Knypersley Road, Norton-in-the-Moors, Stoke on Trent on 28 April

This sad story is about the death of Dave Smith, who was hit by a van. The incident happened in central London, where Mr Smith had moved to work, but he was from Alsager and was a Stoke City fan.

This billboard refers to coverage from the trial of a Bolton millionaire for a sex assault on a woman at his home.

"RACIST THUGS SMASH DAD'S HEAD ON ROAD"

Taken by Mojtaba Hadian in Edinburgh on 28 April.

This story is about an attack on a chef, thought to be racially motivated, which left him with a broken nose, damaged knee and cuts and bruises.

"POLICE ARREST MEN IN SOCKS"

Taken by Ben Strowger on 25 April.

This extraordinary tale is about two men accused of going equipped to burgle... with a pair of socks.
