Which decade was the best? Results
Vote results
As part of our people's history of modern Britain, we asked you which post-war decade you would most like to live in: the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s?

Voting was brisk - more than 30,000 voted over five days. And, as the result, right, shows, there was little doubt as to the winner: the 1960s.

Perhaps it was that decade's reputation for free love and the sexual revolution.

It is certainly held up by many as a time when Britain entered an exciting and modern era, after a century that, until then, had been largely blighted by war, deprivation and recession.

Perhaps your memories of the decade will shed more light on why the 60s is seen as so great. We'll be featuring those next Friday - so there's still time to send them in.
