A 48-year-old Oxfordshire man has died from his injuries after an accident at a motor racing event in Wiltshire.

Raymond Kempster, from Chipping Norton, apparently lost control of his vehicle at Sidbury Hill on Saturday. He died in Salisbury District Hospital on Monday.

A spokesman for the Motor Sports Association (MSA) said Mr Kempster was an experienced cross-country driver who competed at the highest level.

"He will be sadly missed," the spokesman said.

The MSA spokesman added: "He was also actively involved behind the scenes, working as a marshal and assisting with the organisation of hill rallies and the MSA British Cross Country Championship.

Wiltshire Police confirmed they was investigating the accident.

"Anyone who was a spectator at the event may have information which could help the investigation. We are appealing for them to come forward," a force spokeswoman said.
