Work begins on children's centre

Longmeadow Primary School
The new centre is due to be ready by August 2010

Work is under way on a £1m children's centre offering nursery schooling and play therapy for children up to the age of five in Trowbridge.

The two-storey centre is being built in the grounds of Longmeadow Primary School in Broadcloth Lane.

It will also provide Sure Start services and support for children with disabilities.

The centre will be the third to be built in the town with others in the Studley Green and Bellefield schools.

Longmeadow headteacher Craig Gibbens said: "There were no objections to the plans and the centre being built and the people who have come in to look at the plans have been very positive.

"In the last month we have held outreach activities, including a toddler session and a coffee morning, from the children's centre in Studley Green to give people taster sessions of the sort of things that could be on offer."

The new centre is due to be completed by August 2010.
